Your Guide to Physical Therapy in Tyler, TX

Answers to Patients' Biggest Questions

What Types of Physical Therapy Do You Offer?

We provide individualized physical therapy for orthopedic and sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, balance and vestibular conditions, neurologic conditions, and many common causes of pain and movement limitations.

Your care may include hands-on manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, strength training, dry needling, blood flow restriction training, balance or vestibular rehabilitation, and other evidence-based approaches based on your needs and goals.

We also offer specialized programs for athletes and individuals focused on long-term movement, recovery, and performance.

What Type of Physical Therapy Is Right for Me?

The best physical therapy isn’t a single technique—it’s the approach that fits you.

Your Doctor of Physical Therapy will listen to your concerns, evaluate how you move, identify the factors contributing to your symptoms, and develop an individualized plan. Treatment may combine hands-on care, exercise, education, and progressive strengthening to help you feel better and return to the activities that matter most.

Orthopedic manual therapy is a highly requested treatment at our clinic. This hands-on approach involves using various techniques to treat musculoskeletal conditions and optimize your mobility.

What Are the Most Common Reasons People Need Physical Therapy?

People come to physical therapy for many reasons—from a new injury or surgery to persistent pain, weakness, dizziness, balance problems, or difficulty doing the things they enjoy.

We commonly help with back and neck pain, shoulder and knee injuries, sports injuries, sprains and strains, tendon problems, post-surgical recovery, balance and dizziness, and other conditions affecting movement and function.

What Is the Best Physical Therapy for Lower Back Pain?

Our approach to lower back pain combines Orthopedic Manual Therapy (OMT) with progressive movement and exercise to address both your symptoms and the factors contributing to them.

We begin with RESET, using advanced hands-on manual therapy to reduce pain, restore mobility, and help you move more comfortably. We then REINFORCE those changes by improving strength, mobility, and movement control.

From there, we RELOAD your body to build the strength and resilience needed for everyday life, work, or sport. Finally, we help you RE-ENGAGE in the activities you love with confidence and the tools to keep moving forward.

Insurance & Logistics

How Much Will Insurance Pay for Physical Therapy?

Your coverage and out-of-pocket costs depend on your individual insurance plan. Before your first visit, our team will verify your benefits and provide an estimate of what you can expect to pay for care.

We also offer self-pay options for patients without insurance, with out-of-network benefits, or with high-deductible health plans who may prefer not to use their insurance.

Do I Need a Referral for Physical Therapy in Texas?

In many cases, you can begin physical therapy without first obtaining a referral. However, some insurance plans may require a referral or have specific requirements for coverage.

Our team will help you understand your benefits and any requirements before you begin care. Wellness and recovery services do not require a referral.

What Should I Expect on My First Day of Physical Therapy?

Your first visit starts with listening. We want to understand what’s bothering you, how it’s affecting your life, and what you want to get back to doing.

Your Doctor of Physical Therapy will then complete a comprehensive evaluation of your movement, mobility, strength, and function. We’ll explain what we find, answer your questions, and create a plan around your goals. When appropriate, treatment begins that same day so you leave with a clear path forward.

How Many Days a Week Should I Go to Physical Therapy

There isn’t one schedule that’s right for everyone. Your therapist will recommend a frequency based on your condition, goals, progress, and individual needs.

Together, we’ll create a plan that works for you and gives you the appropriate support to progress through Reset, Reinforce, Reload, and ultimately Re-engage in the activities that matter most to you.

Care Progression

What to Expect During Care

Your care is built around you. Together, we’ll determine the right frequency and plan based on your needs, goals, and progress—always focused on what we can do today to help you achieve better health tomorrow.

As you move through your program, your therapist will continually reassess your progress and advance your treatment as you’re ready. You’ll also learn exercises and strategies you can use between visits to build on what we accomplish together in the clinic.

Our goal is to help you become stronger, more confident, and increasingly independent as you move toward the activities that matter most to you.

What to Expect After Care

Physical therapy may end, but your progress doesn’t have to. We help you transition back to the activities you enjoy with the knowledge and tools to continue taking care of your body.

Staying active and maintaining a regular strength and exercise routine are important parts of long-term health. And if you need guidance again—whether for a new goal, a new challenge, or a periodic check-in—our door is always open.

We want you to leave physical therapy feeling confident in what comes next, knowing we’re always here when you need us.

Questions About Alternatives

PT vs. Chiropractic Care: What’s the Difference?

Both physical therapy and chiropractic care can help people experiencing pain or movement limitations, but the approaches are different.

Physical therapy combines a comprehensive movement assessment with hands-on manual therapy, exercise, strength training, and education. At Lonestar PT&SP, our goal is not only to help you feel and move better, but to progressively build the strength, mobility, and confidence you need to return to the activities that matter to you.

PT vs. OT: What’s the Difference?

Physical therapy and occupational therapy both help people improve function and independence, but they often focus on different aspects of recovery. Physical therapy primarily focuses on movement, mobility, strength, balance, and physical function. Occupational therapy often focuses on helping people perform everyday activities and develop or regain the skills needed for greater independence.

At Lonestar PT&SP, our Doctors of Physical Therapy focus on helping you move better, recover from injury, and build the physical capacity to return to the life you enjoy.
